“We never stop caring” expresses who we are at Saint‑Gobain Cultilene and what drives us every day.
It’s our promise for 2030, rooted in what we stand for today and guiding what we are building for the future. Our sustainability programma reflects our responsibility to the horticultural sector and our commitment to continuous improvement. We challenge the status quo. We rethink materials. We invest in circular, after‑life solutions for substrates. We reduce water use and support growers worldwide with data, training, and practical insights. And throughout this journey, we commit to acting transparently about our choices, our impact, and our ambitions.
Because for us, “We never stop caring” is not a campaign, it’s a mindset. It connects us with growers, with partners across the value chain, with our colleagues worldwide, and with the people who depend on safe, healthy food. This mindset comes to life through five pillars that shape our actions and innovations: Water, Plant, CO₂ neutrality, Circularity, and People. Through our promise, we contribute to Saint‑Gobain’s purpose: ‘Making the world a better home’.
WATER | Water Use Efficiency
Our ambition is to maximize the Water Use Efficiency (WUE) by using the Cultilene’s substrate products. Recirculation cuts water usage by up to 50%. Reusing nutrients reduces emissions of nitrates and phosphate. And the absence of soil diseases saves on the use of crop protection products.
PLANT driven approach
Our ambition is to listen more than ever before to the plant. We often are tended to give plants too much - too much water, nutrients etc. By increasing data collection we gain a better understanding of the plant’s needs, resulting in less input, optimal resilient growth, high quality and profit for the grower.
CO2 neutral
The goal is simple: by 2050, we must not emit any more carbon than we absorb at Saint-Gobain. We are actively working to reduce the impact of our own operations and solutions and minimizing our carbon footprint. Saint-Gobain goals: realize before 2030, 33% CO2 reduction compared to 2017 and CO2 neutrality by 2050.
CIRCULARITY | Recycled and renewable materials
Our ambition is clear we aim for having no landfill in 2030. At Cultilene, we believe every substrate have a meaningful after-life. Today, too much used substrate, across the industry, still ends up in landfill because recycling systems are not yet widely accessible. Stone wool is a circular medium. Basalt, the raw material used to make stone wool, is produced naturally in large quantities every year. Stone wool is 100% recyclable. Together with Saint-Gobain research we develop environmentally friendly processing and reuse methods. Recycled stone wool is for example given a new life as bricks or clay pebbles instead of ending up in landfill.
PEOPLE
Our ambition: working with Cultilene means a smile on everyone’s face.
